Anacostia is getting a lot of attention these days. From new restaurants to the nation's first GoGo Museum is set to open early next year, even the Department of Housing and Community Development moved into a brand new building. But a new business that is hoping to create a third space that doesn’t contribute to the gentrification that many locals have pointed to as being disruptive and destructive to their communities. Meet Grounded, an online plant store that owners Mignon Hemsley and Danuelle Doswell turned into a storefront cafe, wellness studio and planterior design experience. But plant design and matcha lattes aren’t all that Mignon and Danuelle have planned for their business and new home. Read more at thewash.org.

On November 5th DC joined 62 other cities and states that already use some version of RCV. However, with some of fiercest opposition to RCV coming from DC democrats the route to a new way of voting is still unclear. So what’s next for Ranked Choice voting? What or who could stand in its way?
